D — Im Rahmen seiner angewandten Forschungstätigkeiten beschäftigt sich Pro-
fessor Oetinger seit 1993 mit Mittelstand und Unternehmensgründung. Als Wirtschaftsingenieur
(Universität Karlsruhe) arbeitet er in der Fakultät für Ingenieurwissenschaften (Maschinenbau,
Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen) an der Schnittstelle zwischen Technik und Betriebswirtschaft. Ein
Schwerpunkt liegt auf dem Einsatz von IT-Systemen zur Verbesserung von Transparenz und Effizienz.
Ein besonderes Augenmerk gilt der Unterstützung der Arbeitsprozesse in Produktentwicklung und
Fertigung mit Hilfe von IT-Systemen. Die Integration von ERP-, PLM- oder MES-Systemen zur Indus-
trie-4.0-Lösung bestimmt die Arbeit am von ihm gegründeten IBO-Institut der htw saar. In jüngster
Zeit sind Erfolgsforschung im Mittelstand sowie Gründungsaktivitäten aus der Hochschule als
Themenfelder hinzugekommen. Praxisnähe und Anwendungsorientierung sind die Leitlinien seiner
Arbeit.

F — Dans le cadre de ses activités de recherche appliquée, le professeur Oetinger
s‘occupe depuis 1993 des PME et de la fondation d‘entreprises. En tant qu‘ingénieur commercial, il
travaille à la faculté d‘ingénierie de l‘Université de Karlsruhe dans les domaines Constructions méca-
niques et Ingénierie commerciale, au point de rencontre entre la technique et la gestion d‘entreprise.
Un accent a été placé sur l‘emploi de systèmes informatiques pour améliorer la transparence et
l‘efficacité. Une attention particulière est portée au soutien, moyennant ces systèmes, des proces-
sus de travail pendant le développement des produits et leur fabrication. L‘intégration des systèmes
ERP, PLM ou MES dans la solution Industrie 4.0 définit le travail à l‘Institut qu‘il a fondé, l‘IBO de
l‘htw saar. Tout récemment sont venues s‘ajouter, comme domaines thématiques, la recherche sur la
réussite dans les PME ainsi que des activités de fondation d‘entreprise au départ de cet établisse-
ment supérieur. Proximité par rapport à la pratique et orientation sur les applications sont les lignes
directrices de son travail.

E — In the context of his applied research activities Professor Oetinger has dealt with
medium-sized businesses and business start-ups since 1993. As a business engineer (University of
Karlsruhe) he works in the engineering sciences faculty (mechanical engineering, business engineer-
ing) at the interface between engineering and business economics. One of the focal points was the
use of IT systems for improving transparency and efficiency. Particular attention was paid to support-
ing work processes in product development and production with the aid of IT systems. The integra-
tion of ERP, PLM or MES systems to form Industry 4.0 solutions shapes the work at the htw saar IBO
institute, which he founded. Most recently, medium-sized company success research and start-up
activities present new topics introduced from the university. Practical and application oriented are
the guiding tenets of his work.
