D — Das Institut für Diskrete Mathematik und Angewandte Statistik (DMAS) bündelt
die an der htw saar vorhandenen Kompetenzen in angewandter Statistik und mathematischer Mo-
dellierung und dient als Ansprechpartner bei internen und externen Projekten. Ein Schwerpunkt des
Instituts ist die Datengeheimhaltung/Anonymisierung. Das Institut besitzt in diesem Bereich lang-
jährige Erfahrungen in Kooperationsprojekten mit statistischen Ämtern und Wirtschaftsforschungs-
instituten, wobei das Ziel war, den Zugang zu den Einzeldaten der öffentlichen Datenproduzenten für
die Wissenschaft zu vereinfachen. So entwickelten DMAS-Mitarbeiter z. B. synthetische Daten, die
inhaltlich den Originaldaten im Wesentlichen entsprechen, aber keinen Rückschluss auf die origina-
len Merkmalsträger (Unternehmen) ermöglichen. DMAS unterstützt Unternehmen und Verbände bei
Forschungsprojekten zur empirischen Untersuchung von Wirtschaftsentwicklung und Arbeitsmarkt
sowie bei der Implementierung von Methoden zur Gewährleistung der Datensicherheit.

F — À l‘htw saar, l‘Institut de mathématiques discrètes et de statistiques appliquées
(DMAS – Institut für Diskrete Mathematik und Angewandte Statistik) concentre les compétences
existantes en statistiques appliquées et en modélisation mathématique, et il sert d‘interlocuteur lors
de projets internes et externes. Un pôle d‘activités de l‘institut est le maintien secret des données /
leur anonymisation. Dans ce domaine, l‘institut détient de longues années d‘expérience en projets
de coopération avec des offices de la statistique et instituts de recherche économique, sachant que
l‘objectif était de simplifier l‘accès des scientifiques aux données individuelles des entités publiques
qui les génèrent. Ainsi par exemple les collaborateurs du DMAS ont-ils développé des données syn-
thétiques dont le contenu correspond pour l‘essentiel aux données originales mais qui ne permet pas
de remonter à la source originelle (l‘entreprise). Le DMAS assiste les entreprises et associations dans
les projets de recherche visant à étudier empiriquement le développement économique et le marché
du travail, ainsi qu‘à transposer des méthodes permettant de garantir la sûreté des données.

E — The Institute for Discrete Mathematics and Applied Statistics (DMAS – Institut
für Diskrete Mathematik und Angewandte Statistik) bundles the applied statistics and mathematical
modelling expertise available at htw saar and serves as a point of contact for internal and external
projects. One focus of the institute is data secrecy/anonymisation. In this field, the institute can look
back on many years of experience in cooperation projects with statistical agencies and economic
research institutes, whereby the objective was to simplify scientific access to the data held by public
data producers. For example, DMAS staff developed synthetic data, the contents of which generally
corresponds to the original data, but which do not allow any conclusions to be drawn about the origi-
nal feature bearers (companies). DMAS supports companies and associations in research projects on
empirical investigations of economic development and the jobs market, as well as in implementing
methods for guaranteeing data security.
